Dr Lucien von Schomberg is Senior Lecturer/Asst. Prof in Creativity & Innovation at the University of Greenwich and Visiting Professor at the Federal University of Paraná. He is also editorial board member of academic journals Philosophy of Management and NOvation, and guest editor of a special issue at the Journal of Responsible Innovation. His research projects span a diverse range of fields, including responsible innovation, philosophy of technology, co-design, circular economy, pedagogy, and football. He also plays an active role in a variety of EU-funded projects with a cumulative net worth of £12 million, while driving transformative change through pioneering research and innovative initiatives. His work is disseminated through a range of articles, book chapters, conference papers, project reports, whitepapers, webinars, blogs, and podcasts. He published in renowned philosophy journals including Synthese and Philosophy & Technology and presented at conferences and workshops across Belgium, Brasil, Canada, Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Germany, Greece, Japan, Netherlands, Portugal, Türkiye, United Kingdom, and United States.

Alongside his research, Lucien is currently leading a bachelor programme of Business Entrepreneurship & Innovation and teaches on topics related to philosophy, innovation, and business ethics. He is also the university's lead representative at Institute of Business Ethics and business mentor at the Generator, the university’s student enterprise centre.

Lucien graduated with distinction in philosophy from the KU Leuven, where he specialized in continental philosophy with notable interest in existential phenomenology and traditional metaphysics. Subsequently, he pursued a PhD project in the field of responsible innovation at Wageningen University which he completed in 2022. During his PhD, Lucien went on research visits to Arizona State University and the Institut National de la Recherche Scientifique, and worked as a research consultant for the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada.

In addition to his academic career, Lucien is an UEFA-Advanced licensed football coach with more than ten years of international coaching experience. He has previously worked for several professional football clubs, including AFC Ajax, KRC Genk, and Oud-Heverlee Leuven. He is also taking professional acting courses at the London City Academy to incorporate drama-based techniques in his public speaking and teaching practices. Lucien enjoys a multicultural background and is fluent in Dutch, English, Spanish, and French.
